An access log is a text file that contains a full list of all the files accessed by your website visitors. All the files that were requested in one way or another shall be included, so if you have a PHP script application and a website visitor opens just the home page, for example, you might find plenty of files inside the log. It is because there are resources on the home page that are embedded - parts of other webpages, images, and so on. All of these files will be listed inside the access log, so you can get a complete picture of the way your Internet site functions. The information is in plain text format, so the logs are occasionally called "raw data" as well. An access log shows the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, and also the user’s IP address, browser and Operating System. More information, like the referrer site, is usually included too. A log file could be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats created by your hosting server.
Access Log Manager in Shared Web Hosting
When you get a shared web hosting from us, you will be able to choose if access logs must be generated and for which domains or subdomains in your account this should be done. You'll be able to enable this feature from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, integrated with all shared accounts. Every domain you host or subdomain you create shall be listed there and you see an On/Off option next to every one of them, so you can effortlessly trigger or disable the generation of access logs separately for each site that you have. You may save a log to your laptop or computer by clicking on the Download link that you shall see within the very same section of the CP. The link shall be available even if you disable the log generation, so you'll still have access to the data gathered by our system.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you host your sites in a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you'll have the option to activate or disable the generation of access logs with no more than a few mouse clicks inside your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You will find this feature inside the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access after you sign in. All it takes for our system to start creating logs is a click on the On button which you will see there. The function can be enabled individually for any Internet site regardless if it uses a domain or a subdomain and you will find a full list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with a click and you may then view it manually or use some software on your personal computer. The log generation can be disabled by simply changing the On option to Off within the Logs section of your CP.
